In 2020, we established mining as our primary business operation by acquiring a key mining site in Malkara, Tekirdağ, through a tender from the SDIF (Savings Deposit Insurance Fund).
The mining site is located in a region rich in lignite coal reserves. The extracted coal possesses the specific quality characteristics suitable for use in thermal power plants. According to a reserve assessment study conducted in compliance with the UMREK code and international mining standards, our site holds a total coal reserve of 39,432,059 tons.
The land (totaling 356,000 m²), facilities (coal washing and drying plants), machinery, and equipment utilized for our open-pit mining operations are under the full ownership of our company.
At the mining site, the following processes are carried out to enhance the efficiency and enrich the quality of the coal:
- Extraction of the ore (coal) using heavy machinery
- Washing of the coal (Washing Plant)
- Drying of the coal (Drying Plant)
Furthermore, a rehabilitation plan is in place to restore the mined-out areas and convert them back into agricultural land. As of December 31, 2024, a financial provision of TRY 7,361,966 has been allocated in our financial statements for this purpose.
